The narrative we tell ourselves in our heads every morning when we go to work, when we cook, when we travel; all the time, every thought, the more primitive, the more tribal, the purer but also the harder to unlearn.<\/p>\n<p>That is why decolonizing goes beyond criticizing the colonial system that surrounds us and defines the power structures and dynamics that control our actions and thoughts. It is also necessary to identify and understand those ideas, those concepts through which we navigate the world, those thoughts we use to define otherness, the unknown.<\/p>\n<p>We have been taught that certain types of people from certain regions are friendlier than others, that there are people who by nature are more civilized or that others are cleaner, or more violent, inferiority, superiority, and so on and so forth. But beyond that, if we question those ideas, how would that change the way we relate to the rest of the world, and even how we perceive ourselves?
