Web Design
I started creating websites while I was in college to pay for my studies. The year was 2000, and I was able to learn the technologies of the time. Macromedia Flash was the to-go tool, which took me to learn basic actionscript. Then, tha tlead me to dabble into javascript. That was a great addition to my toolbox, which included html & css.
As a graphic designer, entering this world of programming was a big discovery since those technologies were not taught at school. For us, designers, our destiny was to design a mockup, and then hand it to a grumpy programmer who would butcher it and do whatever they could.
I had a few experiences like that, and got fed up with negative answers from the IT department: “This what you’re asking for is not doable, simplify it”. I knew it was possible because I saw it in ten websites. I had to learn their knowledge in order to produce whatever I wanted, and not whatever they were in the mood to do.
I wish I could show you all the websites I’ve ever made. Unfortunately, they have a cycle, some of them just die, and in the best scenario get redesigned. Here’s my portfolio I’ve been doing in the last few years. Mostly with WordPress, which is the current Flash. We’ll see where the trends takes us in the next decade.
